I was reading a newspaper in the living room when I notice my son making some sketch of Dave Batista better known as “The Animal” in World Wrestling Entertainment. My son told me that Batista is his Idols in WWE.
I told Him, that Batista is a Half-Filipino and He said really with a big smile. I explained to him that we should honour our cultures and heritage for being Filipino even we are living New Zealand.
And tell him the humble begin of WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dave Michael "Batista" Bautista Jr.
Batista began his WWE career on the May 9, 2002 episode of SmackDown! As Deacon Bautista, a heel enforcer for Reverend D-Von on the SmackDown! Franchise.
I also remained him about the Filipino values and traditions that should not be wasted such as :
Utang na loob - (norm of reciprocity). Filipinos are expected by their neighbors to return favors-whether these were asked for or not.
Pakikisama and Pakikipagkapwa: Smooth Interpersonal Relationship,. This attitude is primarily guided by conformity with the majority.
Lakas ng Loob: This attitude is characterized by being courageous in the midst of problems and uncertainties.
Pakikibaka: Literally in English, it means concurrent clashes. It refers to the ability of the Filipino to undertake revolutions and uprisings against a common enemy.
