I Survived

Yahoo!!! Today marks my 1st year Anniversary as Wellingtonian . I don’t believe it!! I survived? Being Asian in a first world country is very difficult but exciting. The first obstacles I have when I arrived in Wellington, NZ..

Hmm!!!Hmmm!! Ah Think! Think I think the language particularly the accent. Initially I found Kiwi accent difficult to comprehend. Maybe because I used most of the time the American accent.

However, I have to adjust my manner of pronunciation kiwi-style so that they can understand me. Learning new language and cultures are fun and exciting but the Filipino cultures will still remain. I will nurtured my kids with Filipino values such as "pakikisama"(smooth social interaction),"Amor propio"(self-esteem), "untang na loob" (reciprocity) and the extended family are important.

I missed eating some Filipino delicacy such as Beef Morcon , Ginataan Kalabasa, Mechado and rellenong Bangus. I promise to myself one day Palmerston North here I come.

Why I'm going to PM ? Of course to visit the only Filipino Restaurant in Wellington Region. I'm also lucky the Filipino Community here in Wellington are active and friendly. Who help my family to settle.
