He’s garnered standing ovations and unanimous rave reviews nationally, and now the irrepressible Trevor Ashley returns to Darwin Festival for a night of star quality songs under the Darwin sky in Diamonds are for Trevor.
This time he’s channelling the one-‐and-‐only Dame Shirley Bassey, in this spectacular, over-‐the-‐top concert extravaganza for one night only on Saturday 24 August on The Lawns at SKYCITY Darwin.
One of 2012’s Darwin Festival highlights with his wonderfully twisted tribute to Liza Minnelli, Liza on an E, Trevor Ashley is a theatrical powerhouse whose work has taken him from New York to London to mega musicals Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Hairspray.
Diamonds are for Trevor celebrates the musical legacy of one of the world’s most acclaimed concert artists in a stunning evening of song and storytelling accompanied by members of Darwin Symphony Orchestra.
Ashley performs Bassey’s biggest and best hits, including Big Spender, Goldfinger, Never, Never, Never, This is My Life, History Repeating, and of course Diamonds are Forever.
This incredible impersonator will delight with big gowns, big hair and an even bigger voice.
With humour, wit and class, Ashley tells the story of Shirley Bassey like it’s never, never, never, been told before. And to top it all off, he’ll be dressed by Oscar, BAFTA, Olivier and Tony Award winning costume designer Tim Chappel (Priscilla Queen of the Desert).
Hilarious, brilliant and often moving, when Trevor Ashley goes head to head with the one and only Dame Shirley Bassey, it proves once and for all that diamonds really are, forever.
