Local electro soul outfit Sietta launch their brand new single live at The Lighthouse on 25 August as part of Darwin Festival’s eclectic contemporary music program.
Consisting of producer and instrumentalist James Mangohig and songstress Caiti Baker, the Darwin duo is well known for their infectious fusion of hip-‐hop, blues, soul and beats.
Wowing fans and critics globally, Sietta have proven they can switch effortlessly from the up-‐to-‐the-‐ minute coolness of bass-‐heavy electronica into the classic realm of acoustic ukulele strummings and soulful vocals.
Returning to Darwin, after taking their music to the world in 2012, Sietta are set to release their second album, much of which was written in the Top End where Mangohig and Baker find their creativity truly flows.
“We find it so peaceful -‐ the people here, the bands, the music scene and the community in general is so amazing and inspiring we just feel so creatively free,” Mangohig says.
Dubbed one of the 10 most exciting female voices in Antipodean music by Rolling Stone magazine, Baker oozes soul. Her emotionally-‐charged vocals, coupled with Mangohig’s musical wizardry are truly inspiring and will leave you baying for more.
Influenced by the soulful, spiritual music of their childhoods the pair met in Brisbane and through their music explore themes of empowerment, love, loss, dreams and creativity.
Don’t miss the opportunity to be experience the unveiling of Sietta’s next phase as they launch their new single and offer a preview of their as yet untitled new album.
