As part of Wellington on a Plate, I was lucky enough to witness the Moore Wilson’s Food Hero with over 30 leading Wellington Food heroes under one roof.
The event kick off from 9am to 2pm with live music and during the occasion Ruth Pretty is serving delicious morning magic in a beef short rib sandwich using her own specially baked sourdough bread.
Yummy!! Yummy!!
According to Moore Wilson’s management, Ruth Pretty isn’t just a Wellington Food Hero, she is a true New Zealand Icon.
“We’re Delighted Ruth has agreed to run a Food hero workshop all bout entertaining, a very appropriate topic with the Rugby World Cup less than a month away”, the organizer said.
Among the heroes behind our great local tastes that I met from Laurent Loudeac, La Clocche, kapiti Cordials, Lavander’s Green, Sue from Kapiti Kitchen, Helen frm Kapiti Olives, Pandoro;
The Island Bay Butcher, Totara Cottage,Kingsmeader Cheese and Croft pastes, Delicious Lebanese, Mr. Andrew Wright from Mela Pure NZ Apple Juice;
Bordeaux, Genoese, Arobake, PS Food, Brezelamania, 58 Base, Little World, Olivo oil , Ohariu Farm and a lot more.
I think the Moore Wilson The Food Hero is a great concept to make the locals appreciate our food heroes doing to uplift New Zealand own products.
I wish a can come to Ohariu Farm for a romantic relaxing retreat . Ha!ha! ha! ha.
While I’m browsing some of the stalls inside Moore Wilson’s under ground parking area. I lady approached me if I want a wine tasting for only $ 5 and I said yes and she gave me a wine glass.
And I went to Moore Wilson’s wine store for wine tasting. According to the organizer, “We’ll be featuring tasting of leading Wairarapa wine. Also tuatara Brewery, Peak Brewery and Soprano Limoncello are offering tasting and specials.”
Inside the Moore Wilson’s wine store, Palliser Cellar Sales Manager Narida Hooper showed me some of finest wine of Paliseer Estate Wine of Martinborough.
Aside from Palliser, Schubert wine is also on display and free tasting. Schubert Wines is the dynamic vision of Kai Schubert and Marion,his partner.
If you are organic, You should check the Urlar Wines from Gladstone- committed to organic principles.
Congratulation to Moore Wilson for a successful “Food Heroes” . hope to see you next year for another Wellington on a Plate.
