One Sunday morning, we went to St. Anne Catholic Church for Sunday service and after the mass I noticed in one bulletin board “Catholic Matchmaker” – Helping Catholic find Catholics.
A website for Matchmaking for Catholics? Hmm!!! Is this a Scam or Real? So What I do I check the site at www.catholicmatchmaker.co.nz.
In the front page of the website said : “ The safe Place for Catholics to meet Catholics”
The site has a patron saint – St Raphael, the patron of Catholic singles and of happy meetings – and has been endorsed and blessed by Archbishop John Dew of Wellington
The website is the work of Clare and Glen Omvig, a Paraparaumu-based couple who met on the internet eight years ago.
According to site Administrator Clare Omvig ,Catholic Matchmaker opened its doors in New Zealand on September 29,2007 and since then has been a steady growing website for Catholic singles to meet for friendships and relationship leading to marriage and now more than 200 member.
Omvig said a couple in the South Island who met through the site announced their engagement and are to be married in April in Christchruch.
“Just a word of encouragement for all of you who are still searching - if you are honest and open with your communications, and let God into your relationships - there is hope and joy in a special relationship that you may find.”, Omvig said.
CMM NZ has managed to avoid the usual pitfalls of “Dating Sites” by making it a private site, allowing only paid members to communicate with and search for members.
The website includes video and audio, chat, as well as instant messaging, internal email. So for Catholic singles try to check the site : CMN NZ, whoever knows what next.
