NEW Zealand’s biggest fashion labels, local designers and retailers lit up the catwalk with stunning summer looks and a sneak preview of winter from local and emerging designers dominated the Style Christchurch 2007 recently.
On the catwalk was streetwear brands Doosh, Sable&Minx and Elusiv; knitwear from Euinton and sunglasses from Odyssey 20/20; collections from local labels Sonya Smith, Sharon Ng and Sakaguchi; retailers Frankie and Dan Carter’s Gas Clothing; New Zealand fashion institutions Nom*D and Andrea Moore and swimwear by Emma Ford – worn by local models and Elizabeth Gray (Miss Universe NZ), Amber Peebles (Miss World NZ),Alex Hemstock (Cleo Bachelor of the Year 2006) and Fraser Wood (Hallensteins Face 2007).
“I believe the success of the event was downto the great labels and celebrity models that took part,” says Style Christchurch producer Andhy Blake.
Guests and VIPs indulged in hand massages and manicures from Christchurch bodycare company Linden Leaves before being seated for the show alongside a raised catwalk that ran through the middle of Cathedral Junction.
Trends shown included safari stylings, shocks of red and orange, metallics, earthy and neutral tones, bold florals, lace embellishments and sheer fabrics.
By the way, I would Thanks to Cocopr particular to Ms. Miranda Likeman for the information and photos.
“The event has been confirmed to run for three years and in that time I hope to use it to establish Christchurch as a major New Zealand fashion destination, inspire more designers to use the city as their base and encourage young Cantabrians to take up a career in fashion production,” says Blake.
