For our weekly date, my wife and I took a nice long walk along Karaka Bay Road and went to Scorching Bay beach for sight-seeing and sun bathing. As the mercury goes high as 19 degree celsus - summer is already started.
This is the only time we can spend our time together with the kids after a week-long works. When you say,"Scorching Bay", the world famous Chocolate Fish cafe is located. A family friendly cafe with a casual. The coffee is pretty fabulous and the staff are some of the best in town. The nicest milkshakes (regular and 'gourmet') and smoothies ever. Fabulous specials, changing weekly (salads, soups, pastas). A comprehensive menu to keep even the fussiest eater happy!. For me, ice cream from the cafe makes my life sweet.
The cafe became popular due to cast and crew of the Lord Of the Rings while filming in Wellington, Peter Jackson and the rest of the cast used to stay here for a relaxing lunch or just a cup of coffee.
However, after 10 years the cafe will only stay at Scorching Bay until December 31 because the owner did not renew its lease for its current premises because of rising rent which peaked at $2000 a week
