lights of Lobethal

Over the weekend, We went to the township of Lobethal to witness the annual “the lights of Lobethal” . Each year approximately 800 homes are decorated in lights of many different designs and complexities, which illuminate the town and valley.

Each household designs their own display and supplies and pays for their own power.
Lobethal is a town in the Adelaide Hills area of South Australia. It is located in the Adelaide Hills Council local government area, and is nestled on the banks of a creek between the hills and up the sides of the valley.
The Festival begins with Carols in the Valley at 7pm on Sunday at the Lutheran Church in the Main Street, followed by the Opening Ceremony conducted in the amphitheatre at the front of the Church at 8.30pm and officially opened by Humphrey B bear and by 9pm a fireworks display.

It was an amazing event, my kids enjoyed the festival. By the way, the event will end on December 30 and the  2014 Lobethal Christmas pageant will be hled on Tuesday 23rd December starting at the northern end of Main street at 7.30pm and finishing at the recreation Ground .
