Road Trip: Visita Iglesia

Eversince I was kid I was  doing Visita Iglesia during Maundy Thursday, as part of Holy Week (Semana Santa) in Christianity is the last week of Lent and the week before Easter.

Visita Iglesia (Church Visit) is a Holy week tradition where devotees visit seven churches or religious sites and pray in and recites the Station of the Cross. According to Catholic Church, the purpose of this practice was to honor the Blessed Sacrament, when Jesus established the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

As commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at the Calvary,Me and my family went to 14 churches around Adelaide yesterday to do the Visita Iglesia, we started around 11 am and almost finished around 4pm with a mass at The Cathedral of St. Francis Xavier. First Stop is

 

1. Jesus is condemned to death.  John XXIII Church. 50 Reservoir Road, Hope Valley, Modubury



2. Jesus carries his cross. Our Lady of Hope Chapel. Corner Golden Grove Road and Golden way,Greenwith



3. Jesus falls the first time. St. David Church. 2 Vizard Road, Tea Tree Gully



4. Jesus meets his mother.St. Pius X. Avoca Street,Dernancourt



5. Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry the cross.Holy Trinity Church. 3 James Street, Parahills



6. Veronica wipes the face of Jesus. Good Shepherd Church. 7 St Alban's Place, Clearview



7.  Jesus falls for the second time. St. Brigid Church. 50 Le Hunte Street, Kilburn



8. Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem. Our Lady of  the Rosary. 14 Barker Road, Prospect



9. Jesus falls for the third time. St Martin Catholic Church. Corner Hampstead and Mullers Road, Greenacres



10. Jesus is stripped of his garments. St. Monica Church. 90 Main North East Road, Walkerville



11.  Crucifixion. Jesus is nailed to the cross. Our Lady of Peace Church. Marian Corner Portrush Road,         Payneham



12. Jesus dies on the cross. The Annunciation Church. 20 Montacute Road, Hectorville



13. Jesus is taken down from the cross. St. Patrick Church. Wakefield  Street, Adelaide
