A unique Artworks

I was walking along Darwin waterfront the other day I saw this unusually new artworks - in the shape of refrigerators.

Yes, you read it right. A artworks using your friendly Fridge and they called this Darwin Fridge Festival. The artworks was scattered around the Waterfront and you should see it.

According to the organizer, The Darwin Fridge Festival is a salute to art, people and the humble fridge.

Throughout October, community groups, businesses, artists, families and inspired individuals are invited to paint, decorate or sculpt fridges.

I've been attending different events back in New Zealand but this one is unique and different. Who thought that a fridge can be an artwork.

The Darwin Fridge Festival was started in 2010 by Darwin Community Arts and was held in the Malak Shopping Centre carpark. In 2011, the Darwin Fridge Festival grew to take over Darwin with three weeks of workshops, performances and exhibitions.

The Darwin Fridge Festival runs from October 12 to 27 and includes two weeks of live performance, exhibitions and free workshops. Highlights this year include visiting artists dLux, who will be running digital art workshops using a film and music studio all housed inside a humble esky.

The best from the festival will be exhibited at the Darwin International Airport, Malak Shopping Centre and the Darwin Waterfront Precinct.
