Top NZ designers support World Aids Day!!!

Twenty of NZ’s most exciting designers banded together last Sunday to participate in the inaugural Positive Women Fashion Show  to raise awareness of HIV and Aids on the eve of the 20th anniversary of World Aids Day.

The key group of New Zealand fashion designers, both household names and up-and-comers, created garments for the show, inspired by universally acknowledged HIV symbol the Red Ribbon.

The event  organized by PR/Producer Chris Lorimer of Mint Condition was specifically for Positive Women, Inc and their initiative ‘The Torrens Fund’ – raising awareness and also funds to send HIV+ children in NZ to Camp Good Time in Sydney next year.

Amber D, Senior Artist for M.A.C New Zealand, creatied and directed the makeup which used Viva Glam lipstick - which you can buy in store all year round and from which 100% of sales revenue goes to HIV and Aids charities globally. Hair was by Stephen Marr and the event was sponsored by Rosemount, Pure Blonde and Canon.

The fundraiser raised money to pay for 40 New Zealand children with HIV to attend Camp Good Time in Australia.

The fundraiser, known as Positively Glamorous, came about after the organisers were unable to get New Zealand Fashion Week to pay attention to the AIDS epidemic.

Thank you to Garth Badger for the images.
