Raw emotion is an unexpected thing when it comes to rock-metal – yet once again the redline boys are baring their souls.
Accompanying the eagerly anticipated release of redline’s debut record Trapped Inside in April comes the long-awaited release of the band’s latest single.
‘Take Me In’ exemplifies the expressive and emotional song-writing style that front man Chris Yong has become known for. “The lyrics tell of the familiar process of trying to find yourself after a relationship and coming to the realisation that relationships do not define who you are,” says Yong.
The single is soon to be accompanied by a music video that Yong describes simply as “incredibly fitting and breathtaking”.
Yong is a firm believer that recording music and playing that same music, live, should go hand in hand. “They are two very different art forms,” says Yong. “Recording is about bringing the creativity of a song to life, to do justice to it and present it in the best possible way. Playing live is about showmanship and performance, using the songs as the vehicle.”
With this in mind, redline are launching a nationwide assault during the month of April. Trapped Inside CD release shows will be held on the following dates around the country:
4 Apr - Basement bar, New Plymouth - R18
5 Apr - Murphy's Law, Waikanae - R18
11 Apr - Jetset, Christchurch - R18
12 Apr - Zebedees, Christchurch - All Ages
18 Apr - Brewers Bar, Mt Maunganui - R18
19 Apr - Galatos, Auckland - R18
These shows will be the last chance to experience redline live before they head to the UK to follow through on some exciting opportunities there.
redline formed in 2003 when Chris Yong left double-platinum-selling group Tadpole to start a new band with brother Richard (drums). Joined by bassist Nick Gregory and guitarist Craig Broadbridge, success came quickly for the band – opening for acts Evanescence and Disturbed, as well as playing at the inaugural Metal Day Out Festival.
On the eve of their debut release the boys continue to push limits with their distinctive brand of furious yet melodic, and emotive, rock metal. Or check the website at www.redlinemusic.co.nz
