Today, we celebrate the White Ribbon Day when men around the world are encouraged to stand up against violence toward women and children.
The White Ribbon Day group ogranized a nationwide events that you can get involved in your communities.
Just like what happened yesterday morning when over 130 men were served up a message of inspiration from Ruben Wiki at the Men’s White Ribbon Breakfast who challenged them to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence.
If you're in Wellington today, Why not join the Living Free Without Violence Network White Ribbon Day race through the streets of Wellington at lunch time from Bunny Street up to Civice Square
The aim is to have 200 men from 20 major industries in Wellington running in teams of 10 carrying a “white ribbon”.
The race will end with messages about the need to address Family Violence to the people of Wellington from the 20 organisations displayed on sheets which will be hung on a line in Civic Square.
On the other hand , you can help the Altrusa Club of Wellington with their project called " Books for Kids – Christmas Literacy Project.
The project aims to help addressDomestic violence affects children and can impact on their literacy skills.
The Altrusa Club, a women’s service club, is asking the public to purchase books for children of women in the Women’s Refuges. For each book purchased, the Altrusa Club will donate $10.00 towards the total purchase price.
By the way,The National Network of Stopping Violence Services (NNSVS) will be handing out White Ribbons at Wellington Airport from 6.30am to 8.30am.
Let's us support this wonderful event by wearing a White Ribbon today.
